Fear Before (the March of Flames).

Fear Before (the March of Flames).

Fear Before (known previously as Fear Before the March of Flames) is a band from Colorado. I can’t really describe their sound, but I can tell you this: Fear Before is clear evidence of a band evolving with every album made. Their early stuff is more in the vein of heavy post-hardcore, Their album Art Damage is a lot of Botch-esque riffage and insanity. The Always Open Mouth is a experimental masterpiece in a league of it’s own, and their self-titled album is leaving off where Mouth was. Even no two works of theirs is ever the same, all of it is pretty impressive. The lyrical content they produce is good, but it really picks up the ball on Mouth and the Self-titled albums.

My personal favorite from these guys has to be The Always Open Mouth, there isn’t a single imperfect aspect of the album and it’s by far their best work. Also, if you have the chance to catch them live, do so. They put on a crazy and energetic show. Very rarely do I find a band that is somewhat grouped in with the “scene” this good, but very few bands are like Fear Before.
